  1. Jihadi recruiters are father figures who offer an answer to every male insecurity, offering a way to find meaning as a soldier of god. The recruiters don’t primarily use religion.


  2. The Left has a blindspot for radical Islam. It’s spokesmen are clearly defining their beliefs and their goals. It’s like Richard Spencer explaining his goals and then denying that he’s motivated by race, that there are underlying socio-economic explanations for radicalization. I’ve never met an anthropoligist who accepts the possibility of divinity, that every culture they are studying are not really religious.
